The Local 768 Election Committee oversaw the elections for the following officers of four Chapters over the two few months:
- Social Work Chapter: Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary
- Public Health Sanitarians: Run-off election for Vice-Chairperson
- Public Health Advisors and Assistants: Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary
- DCWP Inspectors: Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary
For each chapter, nominations were solicited and all nominees were verified as eligible candidates and provided with an opportunity to decline the nomination if they so chose.
Social Work Chapter
During a Chapter meeting on June 12, 2024, nominations were finalized. However, only one person accepted the nomination for each of the leadership positions, and they were therefore deemed immediately elected without the need for a vote by the membership of the Chapter:
Chair-Person | Martha Larson |
Vice-Chairperson | Whitney Walton |
Secretary | Joya Joseph |
Public Health Sanitarians
Earlier in the spring, an election was held for all candidates for Chapter leadership. Rachel Molina was the only member accepting nomination for Secretary, and therefore deemed elected. In a ballot election for Chair-person, Andrewsky Emmanuel won with 60% of the votes. In a ballot election for Vice-Chair, no candidate received a majority of votes, and therefore a run-off election was required. The run-off election for Vice-Chair between Ebony Massenberg and Michale Vizacaino began July 11, 2024 and concluded Aug 1, 2024. The election was conducted by a vendor, ElectionBuddy. Per AFSCME constitutional requirements, all eligible voters were sent notice (via USPS mail, as well as email and text message where that information was available) of how to vote online, or if they chose, how to request a paper ballot. In this election, the results were:
Vice-Chair Candidate | Votes | Percentage |
Ebony Massenberg | 11 | 25.00% |
Michael Vizcaino | 33 | 75.00% |
Though Michael Vizcaino won the position of Vice-Chair, he subsequent resigned from his job for the City that qualifies him to serve as an officer. The Local 768 Executive Board will therefore follow up to fill the vacancy.
Public Health Advisors and Assistants
Earlier in the spring, nominations for all Chapter leadership positions were solicited. There was the only member accepting nomination for Secretary, Nicole Edwards, and therefore deemed elected. A ballot election for Chair-person and Vice-Chair was therefore held, beginning July 11, 2024 and concluded Aug 1, 2024. The election was conducted by a vendor, ElectionBuddy. Per AFSCME constitutional requirements, all eligible voters were sent notice (via USPS mail, as well as email and text message where that information was available) of how to vote online, or if they chose, how to request a paper ballot. In this election, the results were:
Chair-person Candidate | Votes | Percentage |
Keeshone McLaurin | 58 | 63.74% |
James Dewindt | 33 | 36.26% |
***************************************** | ||
Vice-Chair Candidate | Votes | Percentage |
Victoria Baker | 44 | 48.89% |
Stacia Watson | 41 | 45.56% |
Ehizogie Imasuen | 5 | 5.56% |
Keeshone McLaurin won the position of Chapter Chair. As no candidate for Vice-Chair received a majority of votes, a run-off will be required.
DCWP Inspectors

A ballot election for Chair-person was therefore held, beginning July 11, 2024 and concluded Aug 1, 2024. The election was conducted by a vendor, ElectionBuddy. Per AFSCME constitutional requirements, all eligible voters were sent notice (via USPS mail, as well as email and text message where that information was available) of how to vote online, or if they chose, how to request a paper ballot. In this election, the results were:
