Reading pay stubs

Our union contracts guarantee certain compensation for our work, but it is up to each of us to make sure we are getting what we are entitled to. We have been developing contract summaries to make this easier for our members, but in addition to understanding the contract, you will need to understand your pay statement. Mayoral agencies have one system, and H+H has another. They all contain similar information, but in different formats.

Please attempt to resolve payroll concerns with your respective payroll first, and if you are unsuccessful or you need more guidance, use our GET HELP page to let us know.

The Employee Self-Service site contains extensive information about our pay statements, deductions, and how to file W-4s or download W-2 tax forms.Your payroll information is available by logging into ESS. The pay stub is separate from the leave balance statement (keep in mind this does not include any accrued holiday leave).

In the past, each H+H "network" ran its own payroll system, but this has all been centralized in the past few years, with a Call Center available at 1-646-694-7777 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. Email can also be sent to [email protected]. When contacting Payroll, we recommend having very specific questions ready, including the pay stub date you are concerned about, or exactly what type of compensation you believe you are missing (based on our contracts).

Mayoral Agencies (DOHMH, DCWP, DCAS, DEP, etc)

Their 'Pay Statement Explained' page contains extensive information about our pay statements, deductions, etc. It even includes a short video explaining it. Your payroll information is available by logging into ESS. This pay stub does include leave balance statement:
