I've been a Public Health Sanitarian at DOHMH for a total of 15 years, and served as a Delegate to DC37 for the past 6 years. In addition to my work at DOHMH, I also worked in environmental health and industrial hygiene at NYCHA and the private sector for 8 years. As an active member and as a Delegate, I have used my professional experience to aggressively advocate for our colleagues, especially in the areas of health and safety. As an Executive Board Member, I will continue this focus, supporting all our members in performing our jobs as safely as possible.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, I have supported other shop stewards in our Local to better understand PPE regulations and standards, and coordinated these efforts with DC37 leadership. I have been participating in DOHMH work-groups as well, successfully urging that our agency continues telecommuting to the greatest extent possible and ensures that returning to work is done safely. Finally, as a participant in the DOHMH's Race to Justice program, my efforts have sought to consistently center racial equity in building a better agency and a healthier city.
