DC 37 Defends Democracy: No Kings

On October 18, Local 768 members joined union members and New Yorkers to demand a future of dignity and democracy. In the face of authoritarian crackdowns and illegal elimination of collective bargaining rights for over one million federal workers, we rise in unity to stop the billionaire takeover.

We’ve worked to knock on doors and talk to our neighbors and coworkers about Zohran. And we’re just getting started.

How can we Defend Worker Power? Read more from Labor Notes, and, if you’d like, attend a Labor Notes Secrets of a Successful Organizer training on 11/15 from 10:30-5 pm at the CUNY Grad Center, register by November 12.

We Are Just Getting Started

We’ve worked to knock on doors and talk to our neighbors and coworkers about Zohran Mamdani and about the issues impacting all New Yorkers. Mayor Mamdani and every candidate endorsed by DC 37 delegates won their elections.

We are just getting started. Let’s get to work to win the city we deserve and keep organizing.

New Health Plan Option

The Municipal Labor Committee negotiated a new premium free Healthcare plan option for members in DC37 employed by New York City, the NYC Employees PPO or NYCE PPO plan. If you are a HIP member you will not automatically be switched to the new NYCE PPO plan. HIP members will stay with their current plan, unless you choose to change your healthcare plan during the open enrollment period. Your current doctors may not know the name of the plan just yet, but will come January 1, 2026.

Below are a few highlights of the plan, which will take effect on January 1, 2026.

  • Expands the number of providers from the network Emblem Health.
  • The increase goes from 64,000 providers to 78,000 providers in New York City, Long Island, Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Ulster, Rockland and Westchester Counties
  • Members can keep current doctors
  • Reduction of pre-authorizations by 50%
