Local 768 Social Workers Organize to Win Group Grievance
On April 2nd, sixteen Local 768 Social Workers attended a H+H Board of Directors Public Meeting with H+H CEO Dr. Katz, and got him to respond.
Social Workers — 600 of our 1,000 Social Worker members — filed a group grievance about retroactive pay in November 2023. What was the grievance? H+H calculated the retroactive pay for our 2021-2025 Contract without including other adjustments made since the start of this contract (May 25, 2021). This had a wide reaching, serious impact: about $4k less for most Level 2 H+H Social Workers.
We followed up and were still waiting to receive a scheduled hearing. So we organized, and at the meeting presented statements to the Board of Directors (click here to watch). Dr. Katz responded to the statements directly, saying “I believe that we will have a resolution very soon.”
When we organize, we win. Read more here and join our next meeting in June to plan to keep winning together.
Retro Pay & 3% Increase
About 85% of the titles in H+H have had increases in the ranges for pay orders. There will be a delay in the 3% increase, and retroactive for the May 26, 2024 date across all agencies. Depending on the agency, the 3% increase should be reflected in the last check in May or pay dates in June. Retroactive will come at a later date as well, beginning in June. Any questions please reach out to your Grievance Representative, or Council Representative.
768 + Labor Notes
Jacquelyn Millette, Benjamin Elliot, Haley Shaffer, Victor Ortiz, Ryan McGuire and Nate Franco represented Local 768 at Labor Notes in Chicago. Jacquelyn Millette says: “Labor Notes was a great opportunity to experience the worldwide labor movement in action. I networked with union siblings globally. We learned strategies for implementing workplace change. We also got the opportunity to participate in union strikes. Kudos to Labor Notes!”
Bargaining Update: Bargaining Survey
What do you want to win together with your coworkers to build our strength and unity and improve our jobs? Get ready for our bargaining committee survey to rank everyone’s priorities for unit bargaining.
Summer Health Insurance
On May 1, Public Health Advisors and Assistants in school health will be mailed a letter about summer health insurance. Please be sure to read and to fill out for your summer health insurance, a benefit that we won by organizing together.
